Frequently asked questions
What ingredients do you use?
All dishes are made with plants: vegetables, grains, fruit, nuts, legumes, spices, and herbs. Most recipes are oil free, dairy free and gluten free too. We avoid artificial and processed ingredients as much as possible, and try to make every single recipe from scratch. V on Wheels isn’t just great for vegans or vegetarians, but for anyone who cares about their health and is wanting to give their taste buds a thrill.
Are all the dishes vegan?
Yep - 100% vegan!
Why the dishes are Oil-Free?
How many people does a meal serve?
The meals are about 450 grams each - so it’s 1 big serve if you’re hungry, or 2 serves if you’re adding your own side salad.
Where do you deliver to?
When will my meals arrive?
Can I subscribe to get V on Wheels on repeat?
We’re not offering subscriptions at the moment, but we’re working on it ;) watch this space.
Do I need to be at home to receive my meals? What if I'm out?
You don’t have to be home, but ideally you would be so you can pop your goodies straight into the freezer! If you won’t be there, please leave a chilly bin/bag outside for us to put your meals in. You can also message us instructions to place your parcel in a safe place until you’re back.
How long do the meals last in the freezer?
They can be kept up to six months in the freezer from the day you receive them. Please check once your delivery arrives that all your meals are hard frozen. Always remember to store your dishes in the freezer at -18°C.
Can I refrigerate the meals?
Yup - just make sure you eat it within 5 days after refrigerating to enjoy the meal at its freshest. To reheat food: cook until steaming hot (at least 75°C for at least 6 seconds) in the coolest part (if a liquid) or the middle (if solid) and keep it above 60°C until it’s devoured.
How do I heat my meals from frozen?
It’s better to let it thaw in the fridge overnight if you can, but you can heat and eat from frozen if you need to! Pop that bad boy in either the microwave or oven:
Place the meal in the middle of the microwave (both the meal tray and film are microwave safe).
Pierce the heat-proof film.
Heat for approximately 3 minutes.
Continue to heat and check on it in 2-minute intervals until it’s the perfect temperature.
Try not to overheat your meal.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
Remove the stickers on the film.
Place the meal in the centre of the oven.
Pierce the heat-proof film.
Allow the meal to cook for 20 minutes and check.
Continue to bake and check on it in 5-minute intervals until it’s the perfect temperature.

Can I recycle my packaging?
The box itself, meal tray, sleeve, can be recycled along with household goods. The soft plastic ones, like film and insulation wrapping, needs to be checked with your local council if this can be recycled or can be taken to a drop-off point. Depending on where you live, you can find different stores. Here you can find the points' locations: https://www.recycling.kiwi.nz/solutions/soft-plastics/store-locator
Why I've received my meals without the colourful sleeves?
To reduce unnecessary waste, we use minimal packaging for home deliveries and only use extra packaging, like sleeves and stickers, for marketing purposes at shops and cafes display.
